The World Is Far From Raising Enough Money to Adapt to the Climate Crisis

The UN Environment Program's (UNEP) report, "The Adaptation Gap: Too Little, Too Slow – Climate Adaptation Failure Puts the World at Risk," indicates that the worsening effects of the climate crisis will undermine people's ability to provide protection if much more funding is not offered for adaptation, and revealed that it would cause "coups" for future generations. On the other hand, UNEP's Adaptation Gap report demonstrates the need for rapid strengthening of the cohesion fund. Total financing for adaptation and emission reduction in developing countries increased by 4% compared to the previous year and reached $29 billion in 2020; anticipated that financing needs will arise. Developed countries promised to increase this to $40 billion by 2025 at COP26 last year.
